He repeatedly uses simple lines and Quick strokes to present the essence of the thought in his mind. In Sketching, an artist tries to visually show his basic idea on paper and judge the result.
The paper used for Sketching may be low-quality, and I use cheap paper lavishly. On newsprint paper, you can use dry media like graphite, pencil, or charcoal sticks.
When the sketch is made on paper, it gives more clarity; if any correction needs to be done, he can correct it. As the artist does not spend much time creating the sketch, he can do quick modifications. It also gives an artist an idea of how the finished piece will be.
While sketching, an artist may use his eraser to undo mistakes fewer times than one uses when drawing. The main reason is sketching is the preliminary drawing stage and focuses more on drawing outlines and presenting the idea, design, or concept on paper.
Remember, there are few details in Sketching, and it is a bit rough and straightforward, but you will get what it is. Many artists leave a lot of unfinished sketches as once they are convinced with the idea, and they abandon the sketch. That’s the good thing about sketching.
We can also say Sketching is quick, and one does not spend much time creating one. One may sketch many times, and most sketches will never be seen or appreciated by others.

Drawing is the next stage in the process after sketching. When drawing, an artist intends to create a final picture that is presentable or saleable.
The artist builds his idea further by Sketching, adding shades, light, highlights, etc., and creating a more presentable picture.
The artist also uses elements of Art like lines, shapes, forms, space, color, texture, and value to make his Art wholesome and meaningful.
When drawing, the art materials are graphite, pencils, colored pencils, charcoals, pastels, ink or pastels, etc. When drawing, other tools like blending stump, scale, eraser, and other tools create much richer artwork.
The artist also adds other techniques like shading, blending, hatching, etc., to improve his drawing.
The paper or the surface used for drawing is more expensive than the one we use for Sketching and high-quality smooth-surfaced paper.

If you see the Universe of Art, Drawing is one of the types of Art. Under drawing, there are many more branches categorized as sketching, cartooning, illustration, doodles, and many others.
We use the term drawing very generic for any visual art form on paper. They do have several differences.
Sketching can be called drawing but not vice versa. Sketching is the first step to the drawing, where the concept or the design is conceived.
