What is the best age to learn drawing?

Trust me, learning art is a journey and not a destination. There is no beginning, and no end to learning art, and the best age or time to learn drawing is now.

There are scientific and historical facts available that Age is no barrier to learning drawing. Anyone with passion and the urge to learn drawing can do it.

Are you worried about your age and have been deferring your drawing hobby for days, months, and years?

Not getting enough motivation and confidence that you will be able to draw or master the drawing skill.

You have seen several excellent drawings on YouTube and Instagram and want to draw, but something does not drive you. Some uneasiness prevents you from taking your next step, and you feel it is your age.

Is Age a factor in learning Art?

The best age to learn drawing for anyone is NOW. Truly, age is no bar for anyone to learn drawing.

Drawing is a learnable skill; you can learn with passion and regular practice.

Two other things required for drawing, or any skill, are patience and perseverance.

Art is not a physical activity-related skill that requires stamina, power, flexibility, precision, speed, coordination, balance, agility, strength, respiratory endurance, or flexibility.

Only for physical activity will age act as a barrier.

Art is an intellectual skill that requires creativity, observation, accuracy, good judgment, visualization, composition, collaboration, etc.

These skills do not require physical exertion and will not deteriorate as your age progresses; hence, age is not a barrier.

I have seen kids and artists who are physically challenged, have mastered drawing and painting skills, and are doing much better.

I have seen people retire and start drawing just as time passes, and I have mastered the skills.

Several artists in history have proved this fact.

Suppose you have intellectual traits like creativity, accuracy, visualization, and passion for becoming an artist.

In that case, only one more thing is required, which is proper guidance. When I say guidance, I suggest enrolling in a good drawing course.

I suggest you enroll in a course because you will learn some of the basics of drawing, which is especially important to improve your skill.

Once you learn the basics like shading, perspective, composition, etc., you can add your style and develop and enhance that to be unique.

I want to give one word of caution: never force yourself to do something you do not like.

Do you want to draw just because your friend is drawing? Well, do not force yourself to learn the art.

Do not force yourself to draw to impress your parents, friends, or anyone else.

If you do, then you will be blamed through our Art journey.

DO IT ONLY IF YOU WANT AND IF YOUR HEART SAYS SO.

Why do you Question if you should start drawing at this age?

There is a reason why you even question relating drawing to the age factor. You may be in different age groups now, and you are mentally visualizing that you are in a race competing with kids who are starting to draw or scribble from the kinder garden. They have so many advantages over your age etc. This is something you should remove from your mind.

The difference between kids and adults is that if you tell a kid to do anything and show them some reward, they will do it without inhibition and won’t challenge you. If you tell an adult to do anything, several factors will start running through his mind; first, will I be able to do it? How much money can I make? What if I fail? What if someone says it is not good? Will someone laugh at me if I start at this age? Numerous questions pop up in your brain. It is a very normal thing; to overcome that, follow what Nike says “JUST DO IT.”

Age is not a factor in learning Art

It so happens that age and experience accumulate baggage in our minds. It is the greatest enemy that holds us back and never allows us to move forward. It is an invisible force that pulls you back two steps when your mind tries to keep one step forward. What you should do is place the baggage down and start moving. Age is no barrier to learning drawing. I can guarantee you can become an artist if you have passion and energy. Everyone, including you, would have drawn something during your childhood, and when you want to get back into that hobby, it requires a pinch of passion, and your engine can start. Art is a journey and not a destination and the best time is NOW

Though the Post title is “What is the best age for anyone to learn drawing,” you must be wondering, but the article covers mostly art learned during old age. The reason for giving these extreme examples is that it is never too late to learn drawing; you can say that the best time to learn drawing is now.

You need to trust this statement. You should start your drawing practice, and if you know something already, start fine-tuning it, or if you are new, you always have YouTube, which you can check and start your practice. Practice regularly and be consistent with your drawing lesson. Sometimes your artwork will turn out good, sometimes bad, but you should continue, and nothing should stop you.

It would be best if you were patient and practiced. I want to make one quick point: people do not have time in the modern world but want instant results. Art does not fall under the category of 2-minute noodles. One needs to be patient and practice and trust the process and time, it will give a good result, and you will earn mastery.

Remember this in your life, even if you wish or don’t. Days go by just like how they had always been in the past. Your decision today to pursue drawing as a hobby can change much of the monotony in your life. In a real sense, it can bring color to your life and your family. Once you decide and start moving toward your art course, you will start thinking; differently. You will be spending more time observing, creative process, and visualizing things.

I can close with one more sentence. Your brain will start thinking if you can draw whenever you see something. It is a nice feeling and, more than anything, your drawings resulting from your decision which you had been procrastinating for so long, and will speak out loud. Remember, it is now or never. Start drawing, and you can. You will never regret it.
